look at me and tell me if you see someone you knew
this coincidence is prayer disguised as fate
today I'm searching for the "me" that I will leave behind tomorrow
like a shell left by the waves upon the shoreline
most mornings I roll out of bed at ten past five a.m.
to catch the last of midnight's sweetness turning over in the sky
I lift my eyes to heaven gradually
like great weights over my head
but still I thank the Lord above for one more day
on earth instead
it's not that every day is perfect
like you and me they have their faults
but I love each day I'm living
because of all that I have lost
I've lost friends and I've lost family
I've lost time and I've lost youth
but today I choose to lose myself to love
and loving you
